Aftercare instructions

Big thanks for choosing me as your tattoo artist! Your trust means the world to me. These aftercare instructions are for hand poke and machine tattoos.

If you encounter any allergies or reactions to a cleaning product, ointment, or second skin/foil, please drop me a message! It’s crucial for the healing process that I’m aware of any reactions so we can plan the next steps accordingly.

If you received second skin

or a liquid plaster

For the first few days (1-3 days), you can just relax and let the second skin do its thing! Just make sure it’s sticking well without any gaps. If you spot any openings, it’s time to remove it. Hop in the shower, gently peel off the second skin while letting the water help you out. Once it’s off, give the area a good clean with some natural antibacterial soap. Easy peasy! Apply a thin layer of natural-based ointment or oil, and you’re good to go.

If you didn’t receive second skin

When you get home, remove the plastic wrap and clean your tattoo with mineral water. Dry it by gently tapping with a clean paper towel. Once dry, Apply a thin layer of natural-based ointment or oil, and you’re good to go. Repeat this process twice daily—morning and afternoon for 4 weeks.

Important Aftercare Tips

  • For the first 5 days, avoid heavy workouts, swimming in the sea or pool, and exposure to the sun.
  • If you can’t avoid the sun, cover your tattoo with something like a scarf or bandana. After one week, you can start applying SPF 50 regularly. Keep on doing this forever!
  • Remember, your tattoo is like an open wound. Treat it gently by avoiding direct sun, sea or pool water, and wearing loose, comfortable clothing.
  • Your skin will be fully healed after 6 weeks. It might seem, especially with hand poke tattoos, that it’s healed after a week or two, but that’s not the case. Be gentle with your tattoos; the better you treat them, the better they will look over time.

A small favour

Could you snap a pic or video of your healing tattoo after 6 weeks? It’s incredibly helpful for my journey as a tattoo artist and great for others to see how your tattoos are healing! Your ink is in good hands, and your update would mean the world to me.
