In each ceremonial tattoo session, we begin by arriving in the present moment through a gentle, heart-centered meditation. This helps calm the nervous system, open your energy field, and ground your intentions. It’s a soft landing, one that allows both of us to tune in to what wants to be seen, felt, and honored during our time together.

From there, we dive into a tarot or oracle reading. Tarot is a beautiful tool of reflection, helping us translate subtle energies, inner truths, or subconscious emotions into something visual and tangible. The cards often mirror what lives beneath the surface, offering insights, clarity, and themes that may shape your tattoo. Sometimes a symbol arises directly from the reading; other times, it simply sets the emotional tone. Every reading is unique and responds to your energy in the moment.

We then move into the tattoo ceremony itself. Whether we’ve chosen your design beforehand or draw from imagery that emerged during the reading, each mark is placed with clear intention and deep presence. This is a co-created ritual, an exchange of energy where the tattoo becomes a living symbol of your inner journey. No two ceremonies are alike; each one adapts to the person receiving it, holding space for whatever needs to unfold.

Ceremonial tattoo

A tattoo ceremony with me is more than just receiving a design—it’s a moment of connection, reflection, and intention. We begin by exploring what brought you to this tattoo, using oracle or tarot cards to help bring forward any themes, insights, or messages that resonate with you. Together, we set an intention, allowing you to connect deeply with the purpose behind your tattoo.

In this sacred space, each step is taken with care, from the quiet preparation to the creation of your tattoo. The experience is designed to be personal and meaningful, with the final artwork serving as a lasting symbol of your journey, growth, or intention.

Guided meditation

During the heart-centred meditation, I guide you with deep sensitivity, tuning into your unique energy and creating a safe space for connection and relaxation. In this heart-centered meditation, we focus on the heart chakra—the center of love, compassion, and self-acceptance.

We begin with gentle music tuned to the frequency of the heart chakra, setting the tone for the experience.

Through gentle visualization, we’ll work together to connect with the heart chakra, creating a space of connection. This meditation allows you to connect deeply with your own energy and intention, preparing you fully for the tattoo ceremony.

Card readings

During a ceremonial tattoo session, I incorporate oracle or tarot cards to bring forward messages that align with your journey. Depending on the flow of our session, we may draw cards before or after the meditation—or sometimes at both moments. These cards serve as gentle guides, offering insights and themes that you can carry with you. Each card reveals something unique—whether it’s a reminder, an affirmation, or a symbol that resonates with your current path.

If you feel inspired, we can take these messages further by incorporating them into your tattoo design. Together, we can create a piece that not only reflects these insights but also serves as a lasting reminder of the wisdom and intention brought forward by the cards. This makes each tattoo deeply personal, grounded in meaning and aligned with the energy you wish to carry forward.

History of Hand-poke tattoos

Hand-poke tattoos, also known as stick-and-poke or manual tattoos, have a rich and ancient history that spans across cultures and continents. This traditional method of tattooing predates the invention of electric tattoo machines and has been practiced for thousands of years by various indigenous peoples around the world.

Hand-poke tattoos have a rich history across many cultures. In Polynesia, intricate tattoos symbolized status and identity, with the Samoan tatau crafted using bone, turtle shells, and wood. The Maori in New Zealand used albatross bone tools to create ta moko, tattoos that told stories of ancestry and achievements. Ancient Egyptian mummies show tattoos believed to have protective qualities dating back to 2000 BCE.

Indigenous tribes globally have practiced handpoke tattoos with unique techniques and meanings. In Japan, the detailed art of tebori involves hand-carving designs with a nomi tool, while in Thailand, Sak Yant tattoos, blessed by monks, offer spiritual protection.
